Fingerprint Jewellery

The first step in creating beautiful fingerprint jewellery involves taking an impression of your child’s finger.  This can either be taken straight into the silver clay (the material used to make your fingerprint jewellery) or by using a safe and non-toxic putty.  Taking an impression is so simple and it can even be done while your child sleeps! If you live locally (I am based in Thatcham near Newbury, West Berkshire) please call or email me to arrange an appointment and I will take the fingerprint impression straight into the silver clay.  For anyone a little further away, I will send you a free impression kit complete with full instructions within 48 hours of you placing an order.  Once you have taken the impressions, return them to me in the self addressed envelope provided and then I will get to work on creating your special keepsake.

Imprint Jewellery (hand/footprints and children’s drawings)

A good clear hand or footprint or a copy of your child’s drawing will be needed to create your imprint jewellery.  You may already have a hand/footprint e.g. from nursery or school or one you took at home and this should be fine.  Alternatively a fresh hand/footprint can be taken using a special inkless wipe and paper.  The kit is very easy to use and being inkless there is no mess!  Please specify at the time of ordering if you require an inkless kit to take a hand/footprint.  Once I have the hand/footprint or drawing the magic can begin and your imprint jewellery will be created!

Each piece of jewellery undergoes 14 different stages (18 stages for imprint jewellery) to enable me to transform the initial fingerprint, putty impression, hand/footprint or drawing into beautiful solid silver.  I personally handcraft each item and send you the finished fingerprint jewellery by Special Delivery within 14 – 21 days of receiving your impressions.  However, if you have a specific date in mind please let me know at the time of ordering and I will do my best to meet reasonable deadlines.

Your finished keepsake jewellery is 99.9% pure silver (fine silver) and has a higher purity than sterling silver (92.5%).  All jewellery findings and fittings are sterling silver unless otherwise stated (see individual product descriptions).

Your keepsake jewellery will have a handmade appearance, and this may include small imperfections.  This is due to the pieces being handcrafted and not machine finished.  Please see the FAQ’s section for information on how to care for your fingerprint jewellery.
